| Many of our horses got adopted this summer, so our inventory is low. That's a good thing. Our TriState Agency always has horses available though. Let us know what you are looking for. |

We believe everyone interacting with horses should understand the following:
1. My life is likely to last 20-30 years. Any separation form you is likely to be painful.
2. Give me time to understand what you want from me.
3. Place your trust in me. It is crucial for my well-being.
4. Don’t be angry with me for long and ignore me. You have your work, your friends, your entertainment, but I have only you.
5. Talk to me. Even if I don’t understand your words, I do understand your voice when speaking to me.
6. Beware that however you treat me, I will never forget it.
7. Before you hit me, before you strike me, remember that I could hurt you, and yet I choose not to.
8. Before you scold me for being lazy or uncooperative ask yourself if something might be bothering me. Perhaps I’m not getting the right food, I have been unsheltered for too long, or my heart might be getting old or weak.
9. Please take care of me when I grow old. You too will grow old.
10. On the ultimate difficult journey, go with me please. Never say you can’t bear to watch. Don’t make me face this alone. Everything is easier for me if you are there, because I love you so, always!
To ensure that we are providing happy horses that will fit your needs, each horse receives training before leaving Godspeed Horse Hostel, Inc. Although most horses are donated to NAHRA certified therapeutic riding programs and The Intercollegiate Horse Shows Association accredited colleges, occasionally we will have horses for adoption for the general public. Based on the cost of accruing, transporting, and training these horses our adoption fees are higher than most rescues. These fees will vary from year to year depending on the success of the previous fiscal year’s fund raising. The more donations brought in by Godspeed Horse Hostel directly effects the adoption fee of our horses to ensure our work can continue. Feedback from our previous adoptions report that these horses have become some of the best horses they have ever had. Our Tri State Adoption Agency also has horses for adoption at nominal cost. We are happy to accommodate payment plans.
Under special circumstances where the adoptee will provide an approved trainer to meet the needs of the horse and the guidelines of Godspeed Horse Hostel, Inc.'s training program, an early adoption can be arranged. If you are willing and capable of meeting these requirements please call for further details.
